Chrysophyceae

Chrysophyceae: Chrysophyceae, ca. 1000 meist in hellem kühlem Süßwasser lebende Arten umfassende Klasse der ⇒ Chromophyta. Merkmale: überwiegend monadale Einzeller, die z.T. auch Coenobien bilden; Chromatophoren durch die Xanthophylle Lutein und Fucoxanthin goldbraun gefärbt; Zelloberfläche bei manchen Arten mit Kieselschüppchen; einige Formen heterotroph. Sexuelle Fortpflanzung ist als Isogamie bei einigen Arten beobachtet worden. Synura bildet in Seen und Teichen Coenobien, was im Frühjahr manchmal zur Wasserblüte führt. Die Vertreter der Gattung Dinobryon bilden Gehäuse und in Süßwasser und Meer oft reich verzweigte Coenobien.
