Somatostatin, in den D-Zellen der Langerhans-Inseln, im Magen-Darmtrakt und im Hypothalamus gebildetes Hormon aus 14 Aminosäuren, das in den Langerhans-Inseln die Sekretion von Insulin und Glucagon, im Magen-Darmtrakt die Freisetzung von Sekretin und Gastrin, im Hypothalamus von Somatotropin und Thyrotropin hemmt.
