Onychophora
Onychophora, Stummelfüßer, einzige rezente Klasse der ⇒ Proarthropoda; umfasst ca. 100 landlebende Arten aus tropischen Gebieten v.a. der Südhalbkugel. Sie besitzen Merkmale der ⇒ Annelida (z.B. Cuticula ohne Plattenskelett; Blasenaugen; zahlreiche, segmental angeordnete Nephridien; Hautmuskelschlauch; schräg gestreifte Muskulatur; schwach gegliederte Extremitäten) und der ⇒ Arthropoda (z.B. Mixocoel; Herz mit Ostien; weitgehend offenes Blutgefäßsystem; Häutung der Cuticula). Sonderbildungen der O. sind z.B.: zahlreiche Tracheenbüschel; als hakenförmige Kiefer und Oralpapillen mit großen Schleimdrüsen ausgebildete Mundwerkzeuge; die Embryonen werden oft über eine Placenta ernährt.
