Hominoidea, Überfamilie innerhalb der zu den Primaten gehörenden Unterordnung Simiae; schwanzlos, häufig bodenlebend. Familie Hylobatidae, (Gibbons, als Schwingkletterer, SO-Asien); Familie Pongidae, Menschenaffen: rezent Pongo pygmaeus, Orang Utan, als Schwingkletterer auf Borneo und Sumatra; Gorilla und Pan, Schimpanse, in Zentralafrika; fossil Ramapithecus und Sivapithecus; Familie Hominidae, Menschen, mit Australopithecus und Homo ( Anthropogenese).
