Prohormone, nicht aktive Vorstufen von Hormonen (v.a. Peptid- und Proteinhormone), die erst in der Blutbahn oder am Zielort enzymatisch in die aktive Form umgewandelt werden (z.B. melanocytenstimulierendes Hormon aus dem P. Proopiocortin).
